At that time, Karnataka's team was one of the best in the country. Karnataka's Kamalaksha Amin was a member of the Indian team that represented the country in the first competition held abroad. Many international athletes have brought glory to our Karnataka. Powerlifting is a sport recognized by the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka. The Arjuna Award, the highest sports award of the country, and the Ekalavya Award, the highest sports award of the state, have been honored by the relevant government departments to our powerlifters.
In the last 50 years, the Karnataka Powerlifting Association has been standing as the backbone of the achievements of the athletes, providing continuous encouragement and cooperation, and working as an escort. Our state has so far produced more than a hundred international powerlifters. Our organization has the distinction of successfully organizing national competitions in 1983, 1993, 2003, 2013, 2022, 2023 and the Asian Powerlifting Competition in 1995. The said competitions will always be remembered in the country.
In 2024, the National Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior (Men and Women) Powerlifting Competitions were successfully held in Davangere for ten consecutive days with GIG Group Davangere. This is an all-time record. Athletes from Karnataka who have done good performance are in good jobs. Many athletes are already working in banks, postal departments and police departments and have been leading their lives. Currently, the state forest department and police departments are providing jobs to athletes who have done good performances and the central government's railway department is also providing jobs.
Many people from Karnataka are working in the railway department and our association has been providing all possible cooperation to all athletes who get jobs in this way.
